Year 6 Trip to Chessington

Year 6 had a fabulous day at Chessington World of Adventures yesterday!  They were fortunate to spend the day in a fairly empty park so children were able to enjoy at least 8 rides, some more!
Needless to say, they were impeccably behaved, and all honoured the 1 minute silence with respect.  A great way to celebrate the end of their SATs! Well done Year 6!

Downe Camp 2017

During the last week of last half term, Year 5 spent three wonderful days at the Scout Activity Camp in Downe. On arrival, activities started almost immediately and included archery, Jacob’s ladder, abseiling, crate stacking, go carting, incline climbing and the zip wire. Everyone plucked up the courage to give almost every activity a go and all were incredibly proud of their achievements.  Evenings were spent playing on the adjoining fields and, once it was dark, we went on a spooky torch-lit walk through the woods one night, the other night we spent round the camp fire singing songs with the scout leaders.  We all had a great time and the glorious weather helped to make it a very special few days.

Pioneer Cup

What a fantastic day for Stewart Fleming with our annual Pioneer Sports Day taking place at
Red Hill School on Tuesday 23rd May.
Everyone who attended showed superb sportsmanship, athleticism and well thought out game plans.
Stewart Fleming came 1st in the Netball A team and 3rd in Athletics overall competing against the other 4 schools.
A great day was had by all! Well done to all children who participated and thank you to all staff who
helped referee, umpire and cheered the children on!

Y6Bags

This half term, Year Six have been sewing tie-dyed drawstring bags, 6T finished theirs this week and they looked sensational! Year Three have been busy designing and printing Andy Warhol inspired T shirts as part of their fashion topic. Meanwhile in Year Two, children have been learning about artists of the past. This week, Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa was the artwork used for inspiration, children drew their own versions and then had great fun taking photos of each other in the Mona Lisa pose.

Choir and Music Concert

The school choir and children having peripatetic flute and clarinet lessons performed in a music concert on Thursday night.  It was a huge success!  The choir performed beautifully, singing songs with harmonies and in parts and the flute and clarinet players playing in front of an audience for the very first time.

Well done to all who took part, you did yourselves proud!

The Golden Hinde

Golden Hind(1)

On Tuesday this week, Year Four went on a trip to the Golden Hinde! We took part in a fantastic workshop lead by an actor who taught us all about life as a cabin boy, how to raise the anchor and even how they used to fire canons at enemy ships!

Google Expeditions

Today the children (and teachers) had the opportunity to visit the bottom of the sea, the Houses of Parliament, the Great Barrier Reef and even the surface of the moon thanks to a visit from the Google Expeditions Pioneer Program. With Google Expeditions, which is a free app, the children were able to take immersive virtual journeys. The app can be downloaded from both the iTunes and Google Play stores.

Cross Country

What an amazing Cross Country Event on Saturday 11th March!

Teams of KS2 girls and boys greatly enjoyed the day and gave it thier all in  thier respective races.  The race had it’s biggest turnout to date with well over 300 children per race. All the staff and parents are incredibly proud of all involved and we can’t wait for next year!

World Book Day!

On Thursday 2nd March 2017 we celebrated World Book Day! The costumes from both the children and the staff were absolutely fantastic and great fun was had by all! It truly was a memorable day!

Safer Internet Day 2017

Just before half term the Year 1 classes went to visit the building site.  As part of our topic ‘All Dressed Up’ we spent time looking at the different safety clothes the workmen need to wear.

Fireman Gary visits EYFS

EYFS were lucky enough to have a fireman visit which linked to our topic of Superheroes! During the visit we found out how to stay safe in the event of a fire, what information to include during a 999 call and learnt the different parts of a fire truck. After we looked at the clothing a fireman has to wear, some of us even tried it on! To follow up on the important information given, our homework in the upcoming weeks will be to learn what to do in an emergency and also know our addresses.
