Supporting your child at home

Please read with your child at least 3 times a week. We will send home a decodable book and a 'book for pleasure' on a Monday and Thursday. Please ensure your child's books and reading record are in their book bag each day. Please sign your child's reading record to let us know you have read the book. Please also use the books available on bug club to read at home with your child.

In our phonics lessons we will begin to learn the phase 2 sounds and tricky words. Each Friday we will be sending home a sheet with the sounds that we have covered in class that week. There are words for you to practise segmenting and reading at home with your child.

Please can your child have their PE bag with their named PE kits in school every day.

The PE days are as follows:

RV: Tuesday

RC: Friday

RW: Friday

Continous Provision/ Free-flow

In Reception, our learning revolves around play and children will be given the opportunity to explore and investigate learning with independence.  As part of our continuous provision, during the day the children have the opportunity to independently choose which areas they would like to learn in, either the classrooms or our outdoor learning environment. Continuous provision enables the children to explore recent learning, practice new skills and follow their own interests in a variety of different hands-on and practical ways.Throughout the day there are also some whole class teaching sessions and focus groups.

The children use lots of different materials for arts and crafts. We would welcome donations of items such as pasta, lentils, sequins, buttons and junk modelling (cleaned recycling items e.g. cardboard boxes, plastic bottles etc.) The children are enjoying our water area outside! If you have any old wellington boots you would like to donate to the school, please let your child's class teacher know.

Topic Letter

Please find our topic letter for Autumn 2 below

A homework menu will be set each half term.  When homework has been set, please choose one task to do every week and return your completed activity, with your homework book, on Wednesday.  Your book will be returned on Friday.

As the children transition to school life in Autumn 1, we will start this in Autumn 2

As your child develops and learns they will start to use their knowledge and skills in a variety of contexts.  We would like you to contribute to your child’s Profile and working document, by telling us when your child does something that makes you say “Wow!”  This can be anything from using new vocabulary, sharing some new learning or information, holding a pencil correctly, writing, learning how to skip; anything which shows an achievement.

Please find some ‘wow cards’ attached.  These can be completed at any time during the school year to share your child’s achievements.  When you have completed a card please hand it to your child's class teacher.
