English

We will be practising how to write in different genres, including formal letters of application, play scripts and biographies. Within this we will be examining different types of punctuation and applying it in our writing. We are continuing to develop our understanding and skills of creative writing by learning different writing techniques and literary devices to add detail, pace and suspense to our work.

Maths

In Maths we’ll be continuing to work with decimals and fractions and learning skills like comparing, ordering and rounding decimals. We will be exploring equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages. Later on in the half term we will also begin exploring perimeter and area of a range of simple and more complex shapes.

History and Geography

In our new topic Roots, Shoots and Fruits we will be examining the life cycle of a plant following its journey from a seed to pollination, to fertilisation, to germination, to the growth and then back to seed again. During this topic we will be investigating what plants need to grow well, exploring the role that bees and butterflies play in plant life.We will also be investigating questions such as: What would happen if there were no insects in the world? What are the most important factors affecting seed germination and why do seeds need to be dispersed in different ways?
